Vita Bridge
A humanitarian system connecting children to a map of care
What does the project offer?
In rural Damascus, where many children suffer from chronic blood diseases such as thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, the tragedy lies not only in the disease itself, but also in the chronic shortage of medication, the chaos of accessing services, and the lack of coordination between support agencies. VitaBridge, a project currently being established within the fieldwork department of Syrian Technocrats, offers a smart, flexible, and humane model for reconnecting these children to a map of services that have always existed but lacked the bridges to connect them.
Instead of distributing medication directly, the project gives families monthly treatment vouchers that can be redeemed within a specific network of pharmacies, ensuring transparency and continuity. Instead of leaving families to face the complexities of medical and relief realities alone, a case manager works with them to design a personalized support plan for each child, including:
-
What they need medically, psychologically, and educationally
-
Where to get it
-
Who provides support
-
And the best way to get there
Vitabridge does not create new resources, but rather organizes the relationship between families, caregivers, clinics, and supporters, leaving behind a living support network that can continue after the project ends. This model will begin by accompanying 50 children from rural Damascus, each with an individual treatment and support plan, to serve as a starting point that can be built upon for future expansion.
Why is this project important?
In a country ravaged by chaos and where access to services is cut off, the question is no longer “What resources are available?” but rather “How do we get there? And who will guide us on this path full of obstacles?”
Vitabridge project does not raise grand slogans or make vague promises. Instead, it takes practical, clear steps to organize access to health services in a way that preserves the dignity of beneficiaries and establishes a path that can be replicated and developed. By gathering what was scattered and organizing what was fragmented, the project offers a model that leads to:
-
Improved treatment compliance: Children adhere to their medication regularly, thanks to easy access and a clear treatment plan.
-
Family and psychological stability: Families breathe a sigh of relief and shed the burden of chronic anxiety, with a clear support pathway and permanent facilities in place.
-
Community empowerment and renewed trust: Restoring people’s confidence that systems are capable of delivering sustainable and effective solutions.
Through “Vitabridge,” we reintegrate vulnerable families into the fabric of society, not as a burden requiring emergency assistance, but as partners capable of stability and contribution.
